I love it it’s a great place to study and is very supportive

Great tutor very easy to contact interesting lectures

Great

The facilities, especially the physics building are great. Studying under the school of physics is excellent with plenty of support whenever needed and plenty of contact hours. There are plenty of opportunites to students within the university, and a very supportive careers team. There's a multitude of resources such as an auto CV grader and careers appointments and support for almost whatever you want to do. The union has excellent facilities, it's huge with great places to eat and even study. The uni also has a fantastic gym and sports facilities. The membership is a little bit pricy compared to other gyms, but it does have much better facilities with access to a swimming pool, squash courts, badminton courts etc. There's even a small climbing wall. The opening times are not 24 hours which is one downside. There are a number of different places all over campus some well known and some more secret that are great places to study. The university is also very close to the city centre which is a very big bonus giving quick access to all the many shops and foof places within Leeds.

There's a huge number of contact hours, with everything being in person. Different lecturers have different styles of teaching but I find each method works well. Some days are especially long, having 7 lectures in a single day which is quite intense but I feel it is necessary for the quantity of course content. Lecturers will take questions during lectures and there are also systems in place for anonymous discussion boards and questions for the lecturers so that everyone can see the question. There are plenty of resources available with plenty of practice questions available in most cases. In some cases because of the huge quantity of course content, lecturers do go very quickly in order to get everything they need to taught within the lecture. This can create even more work to do per week. Including lectures the amount of time we are expected to study and spend on coursework per week is over 60 hours. This is definitely a lot and does make it an intense course to study. I think that this is just reflective of physics degrees in general. The physics building is one of the nicest buildings on campus blending a beautiful old grand facade into a huge elegant building covered in windows. The inside is filled with plants and lots of wood which makes it feel very natural and peaceful, and all the windows fill it with plenty of natural light whatever the weather. It's certainly one of my favourite places to be on campus. It's a good place for mindfulness and boosting mental health.

There are two sections to the hall, the self catered and the catered, I stayed in the self catered. The self catered sections are in two relatively new purpose built buildings. The rooms and kitchens in these are very well designed, well equipped and the kitchens are fairly large. The rooms are compact but are excellently designed so that you have a huge amount of storage. With giant cupboards above the bed and then space on top of that. These rooms also had large fitted desks and very nice ensuite bathrooms. The bedrooms and kitchens both have floor to ceiling windows which let in light well. The kitchens had two sofas, a 4k television, a table and chairs and also a washing machine and a tumble dryer. This meant you didn't have to pay for washes! And having both a tumble dryer and a washing machine rather than a 2 in 1 meant that you didn't have to wait for someone to wash and dry their laundry and could put your items on for a wash whilst theirs was drying. Both worked well, with everything coming out of the dryer being completely dry. One negative about the kitchen was the electric hobs which took their time to heat up. The bins were also emptied by cleaners which was very convenient. The halls was also right next to the university union, very close to the city centre and to the University gym. There was also a 24 hour staffed reception. One negative of this hall is that instead of having each flat separate, it was more like a hotel corridor with about 7 'flats' on each floor. You used a key fob to access your kitchen so nobody else could access it so security was fine, but having this many people on a floor meant that you were exposed to noise from a lot more people than you may be in a normal flat. This was very disturbing when people got back from or left for nights out and I was trying to sleep. The biggest negative for my first year halls experience was because the uni doesn't have any kind of questionnaire like some universities do to try to place you with like minded people, I ended up with people on courses such as business and economics with very few contact hours who would go out clubbing most nights, were very messy in the kitchen and make lots of noise at ungodly hours. They also regularly smoked weed which meant the accommodation reeked of that which was somewhat unpleasant.
