The University is a very pretty campus, East Park has been my first year accommodation and it is surrounded by green space and ponds. The walk into town is extremely easy, however, unless you are a fast walker it will take around half an hour. The majority of first year accommodations are close to campus - I would say within a maximum of a 10 minute walk. There are loads of great study spaces within accommodations and of course, the library. There are around 5 clubs, the only issue is you have to buy the tickets and then the drinks are relatively expensive in comparison to Manchester or Nottingham. I guess this will make you learn to pre and save your money over summer so you can get the most out of your nights. The clubs often host themed socials or silent discos which I personally love. One downside to societies is that they all come at a hefty cost. To join the law or politics society for example, costs around £25, then each social is around £5 to attended. Although the balls that are hosted are fantastic the tickets last year were £45/£50 to go which is pricey for a student, especially if you are going to more than one. I would say Exeter is a very pretty place, it is a small city centre but I would argue this means less distractions. Unlike the majority of most universities within the UK - there is the fabulous beaches which are only half an hour on the train. I would recommend going to Exeter if you are not the biggest clubber and you like a smaller environment. If you live in London or a larger city, coming here would be a shock to your system as there is not a lot going on n comparison.

Law is a great course. They overload you with content at the beginning to see who will be able to cope with the amount of work they are giving out. You are given formatives before your summative which helps to gage whether you are stronger at problem questions (scenario based essays) or just essays. Keeping on top of the reading can be challenging because of the amount - expect to be given at least 200 pages per module and then the lectures and seminar works on top of that per week. Do not take law if you do not like to read and write because that is all it is. There is a hybrid learning system which is particularly good. It allows for you to utilise your time to the best of your ability. If you are a night worker this will be particularly beneficial. The lectures are an hour and a half each and the seminars are two hours. You are expected to spend around 35/40 hours a week on reading so it is very full on. However this is law across all universities and not just Exeter so don’t let these comments sway your decision. I would recommend Exeter for Law as the module convenors are lovely, they always respond to emails quickly and the law society is fabulous, if you join there are always opportunities to attend events whether socially or academically or with prospective employers.
