The University of Huddersfield is a modern teaching institution and a growing centre of research and excellence.
Its campus is located in the middle of Huddersfield, a bustling town in West Yorkshire, giving students great access to everything they need. With beautiful countryside, such as the Yorkshire Dales, surrounding the town, you can also easily get out into the open to enjoy outdoor activities like walking, hiking and cycling.
The uni has spent around £150 million on its campus since 2008, meaning it’s been developed into a top-of-the-range student facility, with performance spaces, studios, labs, study spaces, a gym and places to eat and drink on-site. There’s even a working canal that runs through the campus, alongside a tree-lined towpath. Also, with more than 110 clubs and societies to join, there’s plenty of fun to be had.
Huddersfield itself has a lively nightlife scene, with student-friendly bars and clubs to enjoy. There’s also an active real ale and craft beer scene, meaning you can while away the time in independent breweries and pubs. It’s also a great place to be if you enjoy culture, as the Literature Festival and Contemporary Music Festival are regular events, and a theatre across the road from campus holds frequent performances.
It's a well-connected town with good rail links to Leeds, Manchester and London, among other places. The M62 and M1 are also close by, making driving to and from uni a possibility, and there are nearby airports in Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool.
Huddersfield offers a wide variety of undergraduate courses that are practical and creative. Most degrees are studied full-time but you’ll also find some that can be done on a part-time basis, to allow you to fit your studies in with any other lifestyle commitments you may have.
Part-time degrees are studied over a longer period than full-time ones and include courses like Economics and History BA, Drama, Theatre and Performance BA, and Sport and Exercise Science BSc.
Typically, full-time undergraduate degrees at Huddersfield take three years to study, but a number of courses include placement years, study abroad options or an integrated master’s year. These courses usually take four or five years to complete.
Most degrees include optional modules, as well as core modules, meaning you can study the degree topics you’re most interested in.
It's also possible to combine two or three subjects within an undergraduate degree in what’s called a combined honours degree. For example, it’s fairly common to study a humanities course, like history, alongside a language, such as French or Spanish.
The University of Huddersfield accepts several qualifications, such as A-levels, Scottish and Advanced Highers, Cambridge Pre-U qualifications, and the Welsh Baccalaureate. Some courses will require you to have studied specific subjects, e.g., to study biochemistry you’ll need a B in A-level chemistry and a C in another science subject (or equivalent qualifications).
You’ll be able to find each degree programme’s specific entry requirements online on the uni’s course search pages, but we’ve also given you an idea of the grades you’ll need for certain subjects below.
For example, to get accepted onto a degree in accounting, finance or business, you’ll likely need A-levels that range from BBB–BBC (or equivalent qualification). For art & design courses, the entry requirements will probably also ask for A-levels of BBB–BBC (or equivalent qualification), and for computing & IT courses you’ll need AAB–BBC (or equivalent qualification).
It should be noted that entry requirements can change so you should always confirm these with the university before applying.

The JobShop is the uni’s very own job vacancy website where graduate schemes, entry-level jobs and graduate internships are listed.
Also, all undergraduates are given the chance to get professional work-related experience through their degree programme, as work placements can be included in all courses. Your department will offer help and support when it comes to securing a placement, to make sure you end up with an opportunity that helps improve your employability and job prospects.

The University of Huddersfield offers scholarships and bursaries to eligible students from a diverse range of backgrounds, to give extra financial help with the costs of studying and living. Scholarships and bursaries don’t need to be paid back.
For example, eligible students will receive £1,000 in their first year of study through the scholarship programme. Up to 80 of these scholarships will be awarded to students on science and engineering foundation years, with preference going to those who come from the lowest household incomes.
Scholarships will also be given to new students on other courses who have 120 UCAS points or more and come from a household with a total annual income of less than £25,000.
You’ll also be able to find certain subject-specific scholarships, e.g., the School of Music Humanities and Media offers a range of music scholarships.
You can find out about all the scholarships and bursaries available, as well as their eligibility criteria, by visiting the uni’s online funding pages.

My best aspect of the university experience is their way of teaching and worst experience is searching for accommodation for three months
Supportive and encouraging community with so many opportunities available.
