Ulster is one of the four traditional Irish provinces and is made up of nine counties. Ulster University is one establishment that is spread across four different campuses throughout Northern Ireland.
The Belfast campus is situated in the artistic and cultural centre of Northern Ireland’s capital around 7 miles south of Jordanstown, home of Ulster’s largest campus. The Coleraine campus sits 60 miles north of Belfast, minutes from the Atlantic coast, while the Magee campus is further west in the heart of Northern Ireland’s second city Derry, Londonderry.
Ulster University has achieved a strong national reputation and was recently ranked number 44 for overall score in the Complete University Guide’s 2023 league tables. Life at Ulster University is friendly with each campus being at the heart of its community. Belfast and Magee offer vibrant city living, while Coleraine provides woodland, outdoor and water-based adventure, including great surf.
Wherever you’re based, you’ll find beautiful scenery close by, as well as beaches, festivals and a student-friendly, humorous culture. There are also over 100 student-led societies to join across the university and well-equipped sports facilities.
Northern Ireland has three airports - George Best Belfast City Airport, Belfast International Airport and the City of Derry Airport, and Belfast is only an hour and a half north of Dublin Airport, giving good access to national and international flights. The country also has ferry connections with Scotland, England and the Isle of Man.
