Amazing location, great dedicated staff, and a good course.
The facilities in the school of jewellery are great and it is in a good location, great support from tutors
Overall I think BCU is pretty hreat especially for the course I am doing, the facilities are amazing and I get access to tons of high grade equipment without having to pay. Being located in Birmingham is a bonus to as I can go around the city on my break and there is tons to do!
The worst part is the traffic/ commute for me to get to Uni and home. I appreciate it being central to the city but there are downsides to that too. Especially since my classes finish at 5, but so does everyone else.
Lifelong friendships and relationships Growing independence and identity Opportunities to discover passions Access to mentors, internships, and career pathways Worst: Financial stress (tuition, rent, textbooks) Burnout from heavy workload Social pressure and loneliness Navigating poor assesors in placement or challenging nursing staff
Worst- A higher presence of campus security would improve the feeling of safety within students. Best- Many study areas
Major positive is the focus on employability. Many courses include real-world projects, placements, and industry links, and the careers team offers help with CVs, interviews, and job applications. This practical approach makes you feel career-ready. Worst Aspects / Areas for Improvement: Issue is that some administrative processes — like student support, finance queries, can be slow or confusing. With a large university, things can feel slightly disorganised at times.
The best experience has been how friendly everyone at the University is, and the support received from the lectures when it comes to submitting work. The onky fault that there may be is sometimes there is timetabling issues but there is always an email to confirm if anything has changed.
For photography it is great . The course and lecturers are perfect
I think the communal areas are lacking, like green spaces outdoors but also indoor community spaces could be improved upon, the eagle and ball is great but a bit small, I feel extending it into curzon building would be beneficial
I love how my university is very up to date in terms of the equipment, facilities and teaching methods. Being part of the committee for the computer science society, I’d like my university to improve their facilities and estates department as they usually take a very long time to respond to room/venue bookings for events hosted by the society which makes things a lot harder to plan affecting the way students can engage with each other.
The study spaces and library access
I’d like some free food events :)
Student support takes long time to help

Facilities - generally clean and well kept, but sometimes could be improved (ie. toilets in Millenium Point) Location - center of Birmigham, lot of transport options. Chose to come here based on location primarily Student support - pretty good, a lot of options for one on one or group, I’m disabled so I have a biased opinikn thanks to some support being provided Campus look and feel - Overall fine, not bad or anything. Its campus, I stay at home so at best its sometimes a bit of a maze but not bad Student life - I’m living at home and its just regular school honestly, haven’t actually engaged with the student life part of it because its just a big school essentially. Does have some opportunites around though Students union - haven’t joined yet (don’t know if will), but when I asked them a question they were very good with the info

It’s very busy and can be difficult to find seats for studying between lectures.
Very interesting course
