The uni itself is very much what I expected, however there is a few things I would change about it due to the fact there is a lack of space to study
I'm an older student and have children at home, so things like student life and unions are as relevant to me. However, I cannot fault the outstanding support I have received throughout my time here it has helped immensely and through the programme while helping me to enjoy my time.
LOVE IT
It’s a great place because of its facilities, such as the library and study areas, as well as it’s easy to go from class to class because the buildings are close and that it includes the prayer room for Muslims.
There could be better WiFi connection at the library
Good student support, really central location. Decent facilities
Female toilets could be cleaner and more sanitary bins provided. Locks could be fixed on toilet doors. Timetable scheduling could be more condensed especially if only in for 1 hour one day and 2 hours the next. Communication between lecturers about seminar and lecture times
Female toilets at canteen need improved and sanitary bins provided in all cubicles. Timetabling - understand it is an enormous task, however, having only a 1 hour class one day is not ideal. Travelling time equates to longer than the actual class. Also understand as a student you are seen as ‘full time’, however, most students are required to work now and to have 1 one hour class one day a week can cause problems for this. Factor in children and childcare and it becomes even more difficult. If it were feasible 2/3 days full of classes would be much better opposed to 1 class for 1 or 2hrs spread across 4 days
Being in third year I feel GCU is lacking support for student in this year. AIM seems to be around new students unfortunately. I also feel the inclusion whilst eating on campus is very poor. The canteen is lacking in halal options and limited to either vegetarian options. Muslims like meat also. Timetabling is also appalling, 1 hour class on a Thursday, no thought taken into account for parents and those whom must work to feed their families. My thoughts on GCU are very low, previously thought it was an amazing uni but when you look at other universities GCU are lacking and very cliquey unfortunately
Great way to socialise however female toilet need a lot of improvement and academic calendar should be spaced out evenly so there is time to get assignments done and improve timetabling as there is no need for a one hour lecture for one day that no one may attend even if necessary as commute takes up most time.
I love the social aspects however the lack of general student lecturer relationship makes it difficult to invest
Pints too expensive, otherwise fine
The rooms and facilities are good
Lecturers are friendly
Friendly environment
Best are teachers are great
i like its central location as its quite close to everything.
Glasgow is a great city for students of all ages theres many things to do and lot of opportunities for things such as jobs. The caledonian campus conveniently located near public transport facilities making access easy, the campus is large and spacious. A problem with the campus are some of the buildings are outdated and old making feel a bit gloomier, some classrooms and equipment rooms are also outdated and not exactly up to scratch. Although this has not affected the quality of teaching.
