I like the faicilities it could be improved with more charging ports
Best is the location with everything all within a 10 minute walk. Student support is good. Only bad thing is the 9am starts
More can be done about the student union, it is quite slow and boring at times. However the staff is supportive and quite clear, they are friendly and other Studends are quite social
Best - I love how accessible and supportive the different departments of university are. The opportunities and prospects unique to SHU definitely have shown their benefits. Worst - some resources are lacking. Personally I would see great benefit from having charging ports in lecture theatres.
I don’t have anything bad to say at the moment I get a lot of support from the university and its people.
Great staff support
Amazing
Accessible to everything inside of uni and outside.
Almost everything I need is in the same 2 close together buildings. Some rooms with computers don't have air conditioning, so they heat up really quickly
Amazing teachers and staff, always willing to help. New spaces and buildings are amazing, facilities are good aswell and looked after. Need more parking spaces as well as renovation in older buildings.
You can really feel the care and support across all access points of the university, tutors, advisers, mentors anyone you come across will have a friendly and helpful approach. You feel more of a person than a statistic to people. The only downside is some of the older buildings I would have loved to have classes in the newer buildings in my time here but maybe for any post graduate aspirations!
Diverse and very nice location, i love sheffield, I personally think the societies could be better, most of them are either going to pub or boring, I don't know for sports but other academic and socials were a bit boring. Teaching wise, it's what you would expect from this. Honestly lecturer are pretty nice. There are some students who will yap about their achievements idk and would say stuffs like, got here cuz couldn't get into uni of. I think hallam is pretty nice. Night life is def intense. I didn't party that much but man, so many people especially in the first weeks.

The community is very diverse and inclusive, you can find a lot of other people like you and get talking. Laptop borrowing, computer rooms, and lecture halls are useful and conducive to learning, and the professors want you to do your best and encourage you to achieve, giving good guidance as well. Student support can be hit or miss - I was not contacted by them in first year, and had to contact them myself so I could learn about what support they can offer me, but when the agreements are in place, they are quite good. Collegiate campus has amazing nature and building design, beautiful and on Ecclesall Road, and both campuses are easy to get to from the city centre. The Students' Union does not feel like it is part of the university - I have had little interaction with them, do not know the full extent of what they offer, and do not entirely know how they work, and so it does not seem like a top priority or the first thing one may think of when they think of Sheffield Hallam University. However, this is not the universal experience of the Union, and others may say differently. Overall, the university is rather good, and my experience is largely satisfactory.
The student support is great and Sheffield Hallam Student union have lots of events that students can get involved in
Good facilities, well set out library, decent lecture halls and class rooms.
Positive Aspects: Dedicated and Approachable Staff: The majority of staff members are highly committed and supportive, fostering a welcoming learning environment. Comprehensive Library Services: The library provides a wide range of useful skills sessions, which are a valuable resource for students. Areas for Improvement: Lecture Cancellations: Some lectures were canceled with minimal or no prior notice. While emergencies are understandable, better communication (e.g., timely email updates) would prevent unnecessary trips to campus. Transparency in Scheduling: Improved notification systems for cancellations or changes would enhance student convenience and planning.
The student union could be improved and have a better range of societies
The uni is great for learning. Not only is it an amazing and social city, but the teaching at SHU makes it enjoyable for all students. It's not hard to meet people when in Sheffield as theres so many local places where students meet up. The Uni is nice and modern and is relaxing to learn in. Overall, I recommend SHU!
I love the flexibility of it and i find the course really interesting.
