Lancaster is a fantastic university. For a university so high up the tables it lacks the elitist feel. The college system is an added bonus which gives students a sense of belonging and a tight nit community to belong to. Really enjoying my time here.

There are a wide rang eof facilities including a state of the art sports centre which offers a vairety of classes and activities such as wall climbing, dance, aerobics. Theere are a lit of facilites that are being refurbished or built as I write this.

I find I don't always know where to go for support becuas ethe university is so big, made up of so many departments with differnet ways of working, channels of communication. Peers are often the best people to go to for supports.

I don't have much interaction with them really. I have read manifestos during elections and the candidates seem very dedicated. Recently went to the union with a serious problem and they were very caring and helpful to me.

For a small city there is quite a bit to do. Students make up about a quarter of the population so I find that it is a case of it's not what you do or where you go but who you're with.

There are so many to choose from so you are guaranteed to find one you like, if not more!

The degrees are highly flexible as you can take up to three subjects in your first year and the. Choose your offical degree course in second year. I have therefore studies in tow departments. The staff in both are extremely knowledgable, and on the whole I felt I had the guidance I needed. The courses also seem to be very forward thinking, radical which is good as it enourages new ways of thinking. The only problem with this is sometiems you have to compromise your way of working for the sake of the department however this is porbably the case with any university degree.

We have pccasional careers lectures and departments run regular events that take numerous forms e.g, interactive, talks from past students, talks from people in jobs related to your degree. There is also a dedicated careers service. A slight drawback is that the help is there but you are not enochraged to get it as such, you kust go of your own accord.

There is a wide range of accomodation across the 8 colleges. The accomodation is quite pricey if you want something at the more premium end. I had an ensuite room and that cost me all of my student loan and some of my grant

Could do better, but I do like Lancaster

This is only because the are doing up the library at the minute and it restricts access to parts of it, which is very annoying. There are some good study areas, but they can get really full and lack adequate plug sockets. One in particular lacks plug sockets and gets extremely cold.

Lots of support for any struggling students, in an academic or personal sense, but in terms of the English department this is less so.

Never really experienced the benefits of the student union, although they do regularly come round campus and ask for input on how things can be improved.

City has everything you need, would benefit from a wider range of shops. Bus links to campus are very good and run frequently, just try and avoid getting direct buses at rush hours into Lancaster as it can be a nightmare.

I have not joined any clubs or societies but there is a wide range and I have heard nothing but praise for them.

The lectures can be interesting in English Literature, but the Creative Writing lectures are pointless. The department can be very unorganised at times, which is very annoying as a student. They also fail to tell you what they are looking for in essays, but the addition of a Royal Literary Fellow has helped.

Lots of careers talks, and part-time jobs available on and off campus.

Very good accommodation, especially on-suite, but it is shame the prices are high and continue to rise!
