The MA Language and Linguistics programme has great teaching, resources and support, and I’m very happy with my academic experience. The students’ union seems active, but as a postgraduate I feel its events and communication are mainly geared towards undergraduates, so the link with postgraduates could be stronger.

The MA Language and Linguistics programme has great teaching, resources and support, and I’m very happy with my academic experience. This university is famous for corpus linguistics and the lecture and seminar are very useful. The class materials are also effective and the amount of study time is also good. But one point I should mention the career service, on the uni website, there are lot of information but it looks like specific field only like law and business. The uni should focus on the career sport for language faculty or enhance academic career support.

Basically, because of Graduate college for postgraduate students only, I can stay calm and I can seldom see drunk people. It is also located in far from the main campus, it seems to be good for living but it takes time to go to the main area instead. Internet is also good in many areas but it sometimes loses the connection inside my accommodation, I have to use mobile date at that time. Graduate college owns the PC rooms , group studying room, social hub to interact others, They are good for both academic and private life.

Best - societies which create a sense of community and belonging, my course because it’s interesting Worst - sometimes having confusion with assignment/exam results but not being able to get sufficient feedback due to department policies, sometimes the lectures are very fast paced, some seminars aren’t very helpful but still required

In Psychology - some seminars aren’t very useful but we still are required to attend Linguistics - in first year, I wanted feedback on my end of year exam but wasn’t allowed to which might affect my future results if I have similar exams in the future
