Uni of Leeds in an amazing place to study in. It has good facilities and competent staff. The city life is amazing as well and the people are very friendly and helpful. Leeds is a big city which gives you a lot of oportunities especially when it comes to job prospects. Make the best of your life by coming to leeds Uni.

The university has loads of support in place for students both financially and academically. The campus has really good facilities and loads of places to eat/get a coffee/study. The toilets on campus aren’t always the cleanest however and please sort the water pressure problem in Edward Boyle library! The toilets are always out of order there.

The course in general is really good. Having previous experience in the industry I can appreciate that the content covered really aligns with what is practiced in the industry for a lot of what is taught. Lecturers are great and really knowledgeable. As I think can be the case with many degrees the content does feel a bit rushed in places and it seems like you are overloaded with info on some modules which can be stressfull and daunting, especially when it comes to extracting the useful bits of info for assignments and exams. I think the content needs to be more streamlined on some modules to allow more effective learning, as it’s my belief that you should be able to understand the basics through lectures and get more advanced info on your own, or through direction to further resources. It doesn’t feel like that’s the case with some modules as you have to spend hours sifting through content that doesn’t align with assessments or exams in some cases. This may be biased though as the content I have struggled with personally has been more physics/maths based, which I did not have a strong background in before starting on the course. All being said I’m really enjoying the course and would recommend to anyone in the industry, or planning to work in the industry. I feel like I am going to be well prepared for a career in engineering geology after my studies. lecturers and the course have very strong links to big companies in the industry and just being on the course (haven’t passed yet) has opened many doors for me that were previously closed. If you get nothing else out of it (you really should) then this is a massive advantage for anyone looking to work in the ground engineering/engineering geology world. This is also great for dissertation projects, as I would say that around 80% on offer have links to industry which allows you to work on real world problems and gain more exposure to people/companies in industry.
