This MSc will help you understand how general public health and epidemiological principles apply to the promotion of eye health in your own context and globally. You will develop the skills to critically appraise interventions and programmes, undertake your own eye health research projects, and move beyond considering just the needs of the patient in front of you to the needs of the entire population. The programme is designed to support you in developing better evidence-based interventions and delivering improved eye health services at local, national, and global levels.
Applicants should hold a degree at 2:2 level or equivalent in a relevant subject. Those without a qualifying degree may still be considered based on relevant experience. This MSc is designed for those working in, or planning a career in, eye health service delivery or research, including ophthalmologists, optometrists, programme managers, ophthalmic nurses, and public health researchers. For scholarship applicants, at least three years post-qualification experience is expected, in roles involving eye health programme delivery, blindness prevention research (ideally with publications), or management of eye care services in governmental or NGO settings.
