This MSc Physiotherapy degree is ideal for graduates with related first degrees who want to gain a professional academic qualification and start a career in the challenging and rewarding field of physiotherapy.

This accelerated two-year course follows evidenced-based practice principles and focuses on active learning and practical application. With a suitable balance of theory and practical experience, you will graduate a capable and confident physiotherapist.

Accreditation

This course is accredited by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (pre-registration) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). When you graduate from this course you will be eligible to apply for registration as a Physiotherapist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Teaching and Assessment

How you will learn

This course uses traditional theoretical and academic study alongside practical workshops and group work. You will attend small group sessions, seminars and lectures, and complete practical sessions. Your designated personal tutor will support you throughout your degree.

You will be assessed through a range of assignments including essays, examinations, portfolios, practical assessments, lab reports, and oral presentations.

Your placements are also assessed. You will receive feedback on all aspects of your placement elements from safety and effectiveness to professionalism.

Careers

Where you could go after your studies

When you graduate you will be eligible to apply for registration as a Physiotherapist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Physiotherapy is traditionally seen in secondary care and acute settings for in and out patients, but there are a wide range of additional physiotherapy roles. These roles could include health promotion and work in hospices.

Your placement experience during the degree will expose you to many roles and types of work you could continue after graduation and prepare you for your healthcare career.

Students need to have 2:1 (Upper second class) in a related field is required such as health, medical, sports and biomedical sciences. Science-based degrees such as biology, biochemistry, chemistry and physiology will be considered. Other degrees may be considered on an individual basis. You must also have practical experience relating to Physiotherapy, such as shadowing, work placements or healthcare work experience.
