The innovative BA (Hons) Economics and Business course aims to provide you with a strong background in economic principles as well as knowledge and understanding of the key requirements of successful business organisations with an international perspective. The course will enable you to apply theories to organisations operating within changing global environment and to deal with case studies and real-world business scenarios.
Using a wide range of concepts, approaches, research techniques and learning forums the course intends to equip you with a range of personal and analytical skills in preparation for a career in economics, business, and general management. Also, the programme provides an excellent foundation for postgraduate study in economics and business.
What happens on the course?
You will study a wide range of economics and business modules, with a mix of lectures, seminars and workshops. There will be opportunities to do exciting group projects and to learn from experts from industry, to gather an in-depth knowledge of economic principles and business functions which are valuable in both the private and public sectors as well as in non-profit sector.
You will develop an economic and business skill set in an applied context, focusing on real-world issues.
The courses modules employ a variety of assessment methods, including report writing, essays, portfolios, posters, presentations, in-class tests, time-constrained assignments, and a final research project.
A placement can be undertaken locally, nationally or even, in some instances, international. During a placement, you will be doing similar work to a normal employee of the private, public or not-profit organisation. You will be able to have a unique insight into your chosen profession or sector, to acquire crucial personal skills and also you will have the opportunity to build a network of useful contacts. Many companies that employ graduates use placement programmes as a method of recruitment so you could be fast tracked into employment or onto one of their graduate schemes if you impress them.
Our new, purpose-built Business School, the Lord Swraj Paul Building, sits at the heart of the University's City Campus - Molineux, right next to Wolverhampton Wanderers' Molineux Stadium. The six storey centre is home to an executive education suite, innovative teaching and learning spaces, an IT suite, consulting rooms and a central social space and cafe.
