Civil engineers design and build major structures and provide the skills and expertise to design, build and maintain the country’s infrastructure. This programme’s strengths lie in its synthesis of scientific enquiry, engineering design and creative problem solving to tackle the challenging and complex real-life problems encountered by professional civil engineers.You will take part in a week long residential, construction project, 'Constructionarium', where you will build scaled versions of iconic buildings using a range of construction materials. You will take part in the five week multi-disciplinary Interact project with Architecture and Quantity Surveyor students from Glasgow School of Art and Glasgow Caledonian University respectively. There are several engineering-focused student societies, including Glasgow University Civil Engineers (GUCE) and the Female Engineering Society (FemEng)The MEng programme satisfies the requirement to apply to become a Chartered (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) upon successful completion. The BEng programme satisfies the educational base for Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status and partially satisfies the educational base for chartered and can help you on your way to registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng).Recent graduates have been employed by: ARUP, civil engineer, Jacobs Engineering Ltd, civil engineer, Balfour Consultancy Ltd, structural engineer, BAM Nuttall, civil engineer, Laing O’Rourke, civil engineer, Scottish Southern Energy, civil engineer, WSP Group, civil engineer, Atkins Global, graduate civil engineer, SEPA, trainee flood risk scientist.
