Honestly the biggest thing for me has been the support system throughout the course. Being on a radiotherapy degree can be really intense mentally and emotionally, especially during long placements, but I’ve always felt like there were people I could go to when I needed help or reassurance. Placement experiences have definitely been the most valuable part of my uni journey because they’ve helped me grow so much in confidence, communication, professionalism, and patient care. I feel a lot more work-ready now after being in real clinical environments and working with actual patients and MDT teams. The course itself prepares you well for the realities of working in healthcare and gives you opportunities to develop both practical and personal skills. At times the workload could feel quite intense, especially when balancing placements with assignments and revision, but that’s expected within a healthcare degree and the student services and course lecturers were there to help and support me every step of the way!

The best aspect of the course has been how practical and hands-on it is, especially through placement experience alongside in-class teaching. I really liked the balance between theory and clinical practice because it made everything feel relevant and helped build confidence over time. The lecturers are approachable and supportive, and it feels like they genuinely want students to do well. Smaller class sizes also made it easier to ask questions and get help when needed. I also think the course prepares students well for the realities of working in healthcare, both professionally and personally. Some online sessions could also feel less engaging compared to in-person teaching, but overall the blended learning approach worked well for flexibility, but overall the course was very well organised and supportive.

What I love most about the uni’s location is that it has a really relaxed atmosphere while still having plenty to do as a student. Being close to the beach and pubs/clubs made it a great place to socialise outside of university, especially after placements or busy assignment periods. There are lots of cafés, shops, and places to socialise, and the area feels safe and welcoming for students. The location also offered good placement opportunities within nearby hospitals, which was really beneficial for my course.

What I liked most about living in Lulworth student halls was the social aspect and sense of independence while still being surrounded by other students. It was a really good way to settle into university life and meet new people in first year. The location was convenient for getting to uni and nearby shops, and having bills included made student life a lot easier to manage. At times the halls could be quite noisy, especially during busy weekends, which sometimes made it difficult to sleep.
