As a first-year international student from Ireland studying Occupational Therapy, I wanted to share some feedback on my experience so far. The Campus Tour was incredibly helpful, as it provided a great introduction to the resources and supports available to students. I also really enjoyed the Freshers’ Week events, which were a fantastic opportunity to explore what the campus has to offer. One of the standout services for me has been the access to the Graduate Careers service. It’s been insightful to learn about the opportunities available across the UK for when we complete our studies, and it’s a great resource to have early on. A special mention goes to the IT Support team—they’ve been absolutely brilliant and always very helpful whenever I’ve needed assistance. Finally, I’d like to add that it’s always nice to receive a few freebies along the way—it adds a personal and welcoming touch to the student experience! Thank you for making the transition into university life so smooth and supportive.

I really appreciated how the lectures are a mix of online and in-person, which offers flexibility and a well-rounded learning experience. There’s also a lot of fun and engaging student learning activities throughout the year, which keeps things interesting and enjoyable. One of the highlights for me was having the opportunity to go on our first work placement so quickly as a first-year master’s student. It was an amazing experience that provided valuable insight into occupational therapy early on in the program. The only suggestion I would make is regarding the timing of the neural anatomy/neuroscience lecture. Having it in the first week felt a bit overwhelming, especially as we were just getting started. I think it might be better placed after our first placement, as this would give us more time to ease into the terminology and concepts. Overall, my experience has been fantastic, and I feel really supported as I navigate this new journey.

Timetabling can be quite delayed causing some frustrations with childcare and other commitments. The University staff on my course are very knowledgeable and helpful.

The course expectations that we are in university as much as possible which suits me. Pastoral tutors are available when needed for additional support.

For me the campus is situated relatively close to home but it is located outside of the city centre which could pose an issue for those living centrally. There is a free bus service though.
