Overall, I love studying at Northumbria University because you can get all the support you need for your assignments and lecturers are amazing at this. I love studying at the library and I think the campus is great. The staff are really friendly and proactive however I feel like students who do health, education and social work should also attend their lectures and seminars at city campus since coach lane is quite far and takes quite a while to get there. For me personally, it takes about 40 - 50 mins to get to coach lane campus which results in me being late sometimes since there can be traffic and sometimes buses don’t usually come on time.

Overall, I think the course is great because we gain so much knowledge which supports us with our exams and assignments. We do different types of placements throughout our course which helps us to gain our fundamental nursing skills . On the other hand, I feel we should do more of preparing iV’s, doing medication rounds and taking bloods from 1st year and not just doing personal care all the time because it will help nursing students to be more prepared for when we qualify and make us more confident in our job.

I find all the academic staff to be extremely kind and supportive, they understand what it is like to be a student nurse and are understanding of any issues that we may be experiencing. The quality of teaching is very good all the lessons I have are taught in groups of no more than 60 students which offers a very interactive and friendly teaching environment where I feel like I am able to interact in all my lessons. The facilities for learning clinical skills are good. The only thing I would improve about my university is the location as it is quite out of the way and can be difficult to park at certain times so although I drive I use public transport to get to university. However, this said there is a free bus from the centre of Newcastle that runs to the campus on Coach Lane and back very frequently so it is easy to travel to.

All of my course is taught in person which I really really like as this means I can come into university to see my friends and it is easier to ask staff questions etc when you are on campus in their presence. Every group has a Personal Tutor (PT) and this is very helpful and I find mine in particular is very helpful and answers every question I may have no matter how silly or small! We have quite a lot of hours of self directed study each week which I find useful as this can be done at a time that suits me so it is easier to juggle work, uni and my personal life. As all my lessons are taught in small groups the contact we get with lecturers is brilliant and even when off campus they are all very easy to contact via email.

I grew up local to the city of Newcastle and still live locally and Newcastle is the best city in my opinion! The nightlife is brilliant and there is plenty of bars and shops etc in which I know a lot of students work part time.
