I would recommend applying to RGU. The campus is modern and not difficult to get to, and all the buildings are close together which is great. The sports facilities are pretty good too, and they offer loads of exercise classes etc. The halls I'm in are good, but I can't wait to get my own flat.
Facilities
How good are your university's facilities?
The library is amazing but should be 24hr. The wifi is a bit hit or miss. Personally, i spend most of my study time in my flat which is best for me. The clinical skills area is great. Lots of nice places to get a coffee or something to eat.
Student support
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
Haven't used any of them yet but have heard no complaints.
Students' union
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
There is no Union building in the city centre anymore! And I don't think I've seen a union rep once!
Local life
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
I like aberdeen, the weather isn't great though. The city is a great size, bus system really easy to get the hang of, lots of good shops, clubs and bars.
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
The one society i wanted to join are useless. Me and about 5 other girls sent them numerous emails to see about joining but no one ever got back to us. We came to the conclusion that they must have disbanded, despite the fact they were advertised in the society guide. There are a good selection of other clubs though.
Lecturers and teaching quality
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
I love the course, it's pretty full on though! Be prepared to work! The lecturers are good too but have a habit of not telling us stuff we need to do, for example on-line courses etc.
Career prospects
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
As I'm on placement half the time I haven't bothered looking for a job, but none of my friends have had any bother finding one.
University halls
What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
I stay in Crathie and it's fine there. Good size, clean, ensuite, flat mates are all lovely and so are the RA's. Find it difficult to deal with the noise sometimes but that;s a given for any student accommodation.
