Beautiful campus, which is isolated from town. In my opinion I think that's an advantage, as you don't get distracted from all the different things, which happen at town. However, you could say that you get bored after a while, you can't just simply walk into town because you'll need to take the bus. The campus itself is gorgeous with the loch in the middle. Sport facilities are superb! I mean who else has a proper golf course on campus. The university buildings are but outdated and seriously need to be rebuild. Especially the atrium part! As an INTO student you study most of your time at the Airthrey castle, which is situated right next to the golf course. Teaching wise everything is fine and you have the luxury to literally tailor your own degree. Stirling itself is a small town, with really low living costs, that's always a good plus.
Facilities
How good are your university's facilities?
In terms of sport facilities, Stirling is ranked number in Scotland! Golf course, a loch, Scotland's national swimming academy, astro turf, athletics field and endless tennis, football and rugby pitches. However, most universities have the luxury for a stadium with seating facilities. That would be a good addition for Stirling, for their main sport. Academic facilities are also good. The lecture halls such as Logie are nicely built, however some teaching classrooms seem a bit outdated
Student support
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
Student support is effective, however sometimes you think that everything takes a bit too much time
Students' union
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
A bit overpriced and there is not many events going on. And the place is a bit too small
Local life
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
2 night clubs and tons of bars and restaurants and a shopping mall. That's pretty much Stirling summed up. However, you have the luxury to be 30 mins away from Edinburgh and Glasgow, so if you ever get bored you get the train from Stirling to these places
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
Large variety of different clubs and societies. There is always a large addition of new clubs and societies every year, so you don't have to worry about not finding a club or a society, which fits you
Lecturers and teaching quality
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
As mentioned before, Stirling is amazing for tailoring your own degree. If you study Business for example, you are allowed to take another 2 modules from anything.
Career prospects
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
Stirling is ranked very high for student employment after their graduation. That's always a big plus! However, on the downside Stirling isn't that internationally recognised as other Scottish/British universities
University halls
What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
All their accommodation is outdated, however with the addition of the newly built halls such as Willow Or Beech Court, high class halls are slowly replacing the old ones
