More cohesive buildings and better signage for directions on campus

Lots of areas covered, not much contact time but that is necessary to complete the reading. Would be good to have recap sessions on texts before essays.

Large room but with many faults, poor toilet conditions with no working sink to clean hands, weird kitchen shape, only one plug socket in room

The University of York has a wide variety of study spaces across campus which is ideal whether you’d like to study in silence of with friends. I particularly like the ability to book office hours with tutors also, which is a great opportunity to go over any questions about essays or seminar content. The buses between campus and into York are very useful, although at times would benefit from being more reliable, as occasionally they do not turn up or cannot fit all students.

The course facilities are excellent and I feel like a lot of support is available to joint honours students like myself. I like the varied course content however I would like to study more modern texts and go further in depth on queer theory than perhaps only a week of lectures.

The location of Alcuin is ideal and in close proximity to a lot of the buildings where my course is taught. The kitchens are cleaned frequently which is great, however I feel that the rooms could be better value for money if the bathrooms were updated to a stand in pod rather than a wet room, as this is more difficult to maintain and a pod would feel more hygienic keeping the shower water separate from the rest of the floor.
