It took me until third year to realise that investing in a mini fridge for your room to stop your food from getting stolen was the best advice. you are flatmates could be lovely but they could be a nightmare to live with so little tips like this keep you sane!

The professional environment is exceptional at University of York with professors, advisors, and students alike looking to help out whenever and wherever they can. The only improvement or complaint that I could make would be about campus buildings being somewhat slightly out of date and there could be improvement with land use in regards to new facilities. Overall University of York is a great university to attend!

For my specific program, we have access to the YEAR (York Experimental Archaeology Research) Centre, which is amazing for carrying out experimental work and can provide the basis for future PhD work. The professors in the archaeology program here are amazing and willing to work with you to further your academic progress. In regards to opportunities in the future for work, the options are limited, but the staff do try and give you access to anything you may need to apply in the work force.

The location is great in my opinion because it's off the beaten path and has a gorgeous field next to it which is great for morning walks. The only complaints I have are that the cleaning regiment/property management is a little outdated in the sense that they clean every week but expect the common area to already be mainly cleaned, if this isn't followed through upon then they charge everyone in the flat 16 pounds for each future transgression. The safety is okay as there are three doors to go through for intruders, however the main entrance to the building is unlocked or doesn't latch.
