The best part of my experience has been the academic quality and the overall campus environment. Teaching is engaging and appropriately demanding, with strong encouragement to read widely and think critically, and the support available (academic and wellbeing) is genuinely helpful. Campus life is also a big positive—great library access, good study spaces, lots of societies and events, and solid facilities that make day-to-day student life comfortable and enjoyable. The main challenge is that the pace can feel quite full-on at peak times, especially around deadlines, so clearer coordination of assessment timing and even more structured guidance during busy periods would help. Outside campus, the wider city experience can feel a bit uneven, so I’d recommend the university continue strengthening practical guidance for students on staying safe and confident when travelling later in the evening. Overall, these are relatively small improvements to an otherwise very positive experience.

Teaching on my course has been mainly in-class, with course hours well divided across the week. For law, there are a lot of seminars, which makes preparation more intensive than some other subjects, but it also means you get frequent opportunities to discuss, test ideas, and build confidence through active learning. Contact with lecturers has been easy and well-organised through booking support/office hour slots. The allocated time per slot can be quite short (around 10 minutes), but it’s efficient, and if there isn’t a clash with other meetings, staff are often willing to extend the discussion when needed. Overall, the teaching format is structured, interactive, and very supportive.

There’s a lot to love about the university’s location. The campus itself is beautiful and very well set up for student life, with great study spaces, cafés/food options, and plenty going on day-to-day. It also feels well connected, so it’s easy to get to different parts of the city and explore without it being stressful. If there’s one thing that’s not so great, it’s that the wider city can feel a bit uneven depending on where you go and what time it is—like many big cities, you just need to be a little more careful later in the evening and when travelling alone. Overall though, it’s a strong location for students, especially because campus life is such a big plus.
