I have found York St John University to be a really great place to study. It is a wonderful campus with lots going on and all of the staff are incredibly helpful.

The best part for me has definitely been the staff. Lecturers are so friendly and supportive, always happy to help, give advice and offer feedback. The worst aspect for me personally is probably the contact hours, which are not high but as I live a little further away it can feel like a lot of wasted travel time. For people like me I think it would be nice to have the option to join some sessions remotely.

Overall I really enjoyed my time here at YSJ. I loved everything about it and my tutors (BA Hons English Language and Linguistics) were fantastic. They were so helpful, replied to emails quickly, were helpful during tutorials and throughout lectures and seminars. They always seemed willing to help and really passionate about their specialisms.

Very good. Good computers/Macs, wifi across campus, and the Linguistics Lab is a God send for those who need some peace and quiet to listen to recordings (especially for phonetics and accents and dialects). However, the books were often a little lacking (there were online versions available, but not for all books) and often there were no available computers. There are, however, many computers spread across campus so you CAN find an available one if you're in desperate need.

I went abroad for the 2nd year of my degree and loved every minute of it, although the support throughout that was lacking somewhat (each university seemed to say that it was the others' responsibility to do something/solve a problem).

Can't comment so much. It's quite small, nothing much happens here.

Really lacking. There isn't much choice here for clubs unless you are really into your sports. I, unfortunately, am not a sporty person, so didn't end up joining any clubs expect for the Language Society, which many people didn't seem to commit to going to each week anyway.

Very interesting and varied. Tutors love their subjects as it clearly shows through their lectures.

Very good! I have decided to become and English as a Foreign Language teacher and the prospects are looking very good (however they are very poor if I were to stay in the UK).

I lived in City Resident and it was BAD. Very poor, my heating didn't work and my shower was terrible (very cold water and often it just trickled out and didn't work properly). Noone came to fix this problem and I froze throughout the winter. I later moved to Greys Wharf and it was great. Very nice, modern and clean.
