You can use our specialist linguistics lab to analyse linguistic data and apply your theoretical knowledge to everyday examples of language use. You can choose to specialise in different areas of linguistic study. This could include an exploration of:Language, gender and sexualityForensic linguisticsLanguage and literacySpeech and language pathologyYour learning will focus on applying your theoretical knowledge to language data. This will help you explain how linguistic concepts and issues apply to everyday situations and the classroom.Examine theories and methods of teaching English to people who speak other languages. You can gain practical teaching experience by taking the Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA). The opportunity to study this extra qualification is free. It is recognised around the world and can help you stand out in a competitive job market. You will need to apply and attend an interview before you are accepted onto the CELTA course.
