The environment and beautiful campus. The lectures are interesting and the student activities are very helpful.

Best: in class lectures and online guest lectures. The course hours are not too long or not too short, so, it’s not a overload for student. Workshops and activity based classes are very helpful. Worst: getting scholarships is very difficult.

It's one of the top universities in the country which is one reason to study at York, alongside this the overall city is really great as it's quite small and has everything you need in walking distance with a range of cultures It's hard to say what could be improved as I've generally had a very positive experience of the University, however one main thing is the prices of accommodation. Both on and off campus have massively increased year on year without any reason for this. Student loans are not increasing inline with rent prices making more and more students finding it increasingly difficult to just be able to survive at university, never mind having a great experience. I think the university could definitely make their own accommodation cheaper, and try to help stop the rent prices of student housing increasing even more in the coming years but it seems nothing is being done about this.

My course is full-time but as it is a research postgraduate course (PhD) there aren't really any official contact hours or lectures. I feel I am quite lucky though because I have a supervisor meeting every week which I find really helpful with planning work for each week.

Value for money is decreasing massively year on year as prices are going up without any changes or improvements to the accommodation. 6 years ago I paid £135 a week for my room, and that same room is over £150 a week now, however there haven't been any modifications to the room or furniture (as far as I'm aware) that warrant a price increase when all of the amenities are getting older.
