The coolest thing about doing a Cyber Security Masters at the University of York is that you get to be a digital detective! Plus, the professors are like real-life hacking wizards, and you'll be part of a community of tech-savvy students who are all about saving the day in the cyber world. The absolute best thing about living at Student Roost Frederick House is the incredible community vibe. It's not just a place to crash; it's a home where you meet amazing people from all walks of life. From impromptu movie nights to late-night chats in the kitchen, you'll make friends for life. Plus, you're smack in the middle of the city, so you're just a hop, skip, and a jump away from all the action, restaurants, and shops. It's like having the best of both worlds – a cozy space to call your own and an awesome bunch of roomies to share it with! It can be little expensive. However, gym, meditation center, gaming and lounge facility all is included.

Best: Great city with a lively music scene with plenty of local acts constantly on. Everything is more than walkable which is great! The city itself has also never not felt safe leading to a relaxed experience no matter where I am. Also fun shops everywhere with great food selection Improved: Finding houses in York can be quite difficult especially with more than 7 people due to limited spaces. This makes it quite stressful around November time to find a house. Also bus prices going up is always a downside but it is manageable. However the city as a whole can be quite pricy and annoyingly the university doesn't offer as cheap drinks as they definitely can especially compared to the other St Johns York university which is fairly frustrating.

Best: Course has great facilities and people and you always have someone you can contact. The department run quite a few events constantly which you can definitely take advantage of. They have always been really helpful with any questions or helping me really in any way. Worst: Definitely the fact that so much content is online, this can get super tiring and frustrating fast. The subject itself is designed in a sense to promote self learning which of course is a big part of it but It can be frustrating when you have not much going on and no big upcoming activities that other subjects might have such as research trips. Makes you question what are you really paying for?

Most: Great location for my course (2min walk) which was very convenient. Great people around without too much hassle (but more subjective). The halls themselves had everything I could ever need with fast enough Wi-Fi and plenty of room in my rooms. Thankfully was quite well soundproofed as well. The college itself did a lot of activities which was nice as there was a sense of community within it. Also have local convenience shops which was very nice but more on the pricey side. Least: Bit more on the pricy side but then again everything seems to have gone up in York. In terms of actual living quality I don't have too many complaints apart from the minor (such as shower slightly too weak) biggest thing is probably distance from the other campus (west) and town (40 min walk).
