University rating
Tell us about your overall university experience so far.
It's been fantastic studying here, we have lecturers who are teaching what they love, and often they've written the key material on the subject. Also the university provides us with so many opportunities you just don't find at other unis, it's really been great, and I wouldn't have changed it for the world.
Facilities
How good are your university's facilities?
Constantly improving our facilities and resources. The library is incredible, and the technology available to us is great too.
Student support
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
Everything you could ever hope for. On campus security who will come to your aid whenever and wherever, an 8pm to 8am helpline who can talk you through essay stress, or just give you the number for a taxi company, health centre on site, and an information point that can answer any question you throw at them!
Students' union
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
They always act in the best interest of the students, they encourage us to vote for our SABS so we are all involved with the running of our uni, and they have great services available to us like a contract checking service when moving into privately owned properties.
Local life
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
Not a big club life but enough to keep you entertained, and the pubs are great, that's more my scene anyway, so suited me perfectly. Also loads to do in the daytime, especially so close to the sea and the moors.
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
Over 200 of them, something for everyone and very inclusive (apart from the ECU) also, dead easy to set something up if you want something that isn't available, the guild (Union) will find you as well.
Lecturers and teaching quality
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
I have loved my course (maths) but I didn't really get into it until 2nd year, so felt like I was playing catch up a bit, but that was really my issue, the support was there but I didn't utilise it in first year.
Career prospects
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
We have a career zone, which provides support in the form of workshops on key skills for job applications, as well as looking over cvs and cover letters for us. Also an award unique to Exeter which is recognised by employers across the uk.
University halls
What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
Loads of uni owned places plus help finding stuff if second and third year. All safe a secure and even privately owned accommodation can call out our on campus security for any reason day or night.
