Students benefit from the institute’s own in-house clinic, the Metanoia Counselling and Psychotherapy Service, which provides low-cost psychological therapy to the community. BOOK OPEN DAYMetanoia Institute offers a full range of student support services. These are in place to ensure students can excel across their academic and personal lives and make the most of their study experience.
Each course has its own programme leader who can help students with academic issues and guide them to additional resources as necessary. Courses also feature an academic coordinator, who acts as a point of contact for administrative assistance.
Professional networking support is provided by the Professional Bodies and Internal Academic Support Manager, who acts as a link between the accrediting bodies (UKCP and BACP) and students. Clinical placement and development officers help students to obtain work placement opportunities.
Students with additional needs or disabilities are supported by the disability support officer. A student liaison officer supports students in the social side of life at Metanoia Institute, running a selection of student support and social groups, including LGBT+ and BME.
General administrative support is organised through the registry team. Students in need of financial support or guidance can approach the finance team, who also deal with bursaries and scholarships.

All psychotherapy courses include professional accreditation, ensuring graduates are highly desirable employees who have been taught and assessed at the highest standards.
Accrediting bodies include the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Common career paths for graduates include counsellors, psychotherapists, counselling psychologists, supervisors, coaches, organisational development consultants, and more.
Counselling and psychotherapy students gain clinical experience through work placements over the course of their studies, working one-to-one with patients and in group settings. Placements may be secured internally or externally. Designated clinical placements and development officers are on hand to assist with securing placements.
All programmes include experiential learning opportunities and place emphasis on developing practical skills and therapeutic approaches. Teaching staff work hard to promote a supportive learning environment that encourages personal and professional growth.
In order to support aspiring psychotherapists and counsellors from underrepresented backgrounds, eligible students can apply for a scholarship from the Metanoia Institute Scholarship Fund. Through this fund, six scholarships are open to students at undergraduate and postgraduate level, with successful applicants receiving funding for 50% of their overall course fees.
A small number of bursaries are also available to students at the discretion of the institute, up to a maximum amount of 25% of one year of course fees. Bursaries are only available to students who have successfully completed a minimum of one year of studies.
Students may be eligible for a postgraduate tuition fee loan from the government, or sponsorship from an employer to help with the cost of funding their tuition.
