My university experience so far has not been the best. I feel the subjects in which I am being taught are very beneficial and we need to be taught more about the technological side of Graphic Design
They are good at it
Just the course content and the hands on experience
By far the college has provided an exquisite experience that of which is full of everlasting knowledge. Every time I walk out of the college I have learnt far more than I would if I were to teach it myself on the internet. Evidence of this is through a natural urge to personally research furthermore into which ever criteria that need be. Overall I do believe the college needs to remind itself within the power of inspiration. The college has to understand that when a student is mentally aspiring to a role model of any kind that they will act like their aspiration. Instead of maintaining the constant mindset of a student, the student indeed needs for constantly be reminded of their pure and honest reason as to why they are even bothering entering and learning music in HNC/D.
The college allows students to become aware of what it takes to become recognisable within the industry. To elaborate, the style of teaching embeds on the students to become heavily self aware in what they are and are not capable with by healthily limiting support after delivering a piece of information. This of course allows for the student to understand that what they want in life will only come to them by how much they will give back.
I admire the decision to teach the students within the course in the style of how an industry environment would take place. However the same positive of this teaching appears to be their negative. Students that are not of an academic background appear to be challenged by the 'intense' workload, however this is of course only in theory that such students simply need to practice their work ethic. However the course should specifically hold moments in sessions apart from TPA to assist such students within class, to constantly ask and reassure that the student who feel unconfident are indeed on track.
Spectacular. In regards to the studios in which HNC/D students practice and work in for recording, a clear and attentive care to obtain and utilize high quality equipment is valiantly visible.
For students who are more than capable of handling such a bombastic work ethic the college appears to be a hub of ease and settlement to prosper into sub-subjects that the main course is gently linked into. However as previously mentioned, for students for feel to be incapable of time handling their new demanded working style, a closer look into personally asking as to why such emotions a clearly on repeat. Understanding that an industry standard version of teaching is preferred to naturally mould students to become furthermore fluent into their future environments... perhaps a lighter tone should be introduced for the first year (again, for students who feel pressured).
I’m really enjoying my time at college so far, it’s alot harder than expected but still worth it 100%. The tutors really help you better yourself with many opportunities to excel and get experience
The college gives us vital knowledge and plenty of experience to go on and get a job in a wide variety of fields of work. The tutors also explain how many avenues there are to explore when looking for a job
The hands on approach, and the clear instructions/ explainations on how to do things. Sometimes deadlines are unclear but are always made clear eventually
Excellent facilities , always available aswell.
The tutors feed back is really good and they always show you on how you can improve your work. The study plus sessions help a lot to complete and assignments that I am struggling with
An enjoyable experience thus far without any prominent issues. This course has taught me about problem solving and allowed me to learn and utilise even more skills
Through its work based learning module
The communication with the teacher and focus
The facilities at West Herts College allow me to work on designs and print research/final outcomes. Support is also available when needed.
Very helpful and intuitive
Whilst the frequency of assignments in a small period of time has caused stressful periods, tutors has given support with predicaments that has caused trouble in my assignments
Equips student with knowledge of what to expect in the industry. Also sets up various courses such as Pro tools courses to earn certification which would increase employability.
We have a focussed environment however the tutors allow students ability to communicate with others to ensure that students are hitting the right criteria
They are good, as it allows music students to be able to achieve their goals in a wau that is desired rather than having to work your way round outdated equipment. However the facilities has allowed to remain up to date
The support is available for everyone, not just for music students as there facilities that help with particular assignments that make sure you are remaining on track on passing your assignments.
Certain units that I like are fun and not too easy but not too hard either although there is a lot of work to do. I find with the units I’m not so good at I don’t get enough information for them to complete my assignments however this doesn’t apply to all the units that I’m not so good at
Teaches us certain things that we need to be good at in order to get into the industry and have certain skills to be acknowledged by certain jobs
I don’t like the fact the we get given too many assignments thrown at us at once however I do like the fact that we get taught how to use certain software and how to do certain things for industry standard
The support offers is ok
Overall, this college has great facilities and great lecturers. Member of staff are very nice and sets a good example to others. The lecturer are very helpful and understanding which makes the students work harder.
I have learnt so much this year as I have improved on many different skills that I have been struggling on before. These skills will help me in the future as they would come in as a part of the skills that will be needed for me to succeed.
Most: - Independent work but also get help when needed. Least: - The days do get very long, which does not motivate me.
- Have access to computers and class rooms. - We have a degree room, which helps us to study as only degree students can have access to the room.
The feedback I get from the lecturer has helped me out with my work. I try to aim more and feel motivated when doing work. If I do not understand something the lecturers would have a one to one with me to explain it.
Overall my experience has been really good with the college. For future students I would advise they listen to what tutors advises and not to leave work to the last minute. I learnt this from year 1 I used to leave work till the last minute and it wasn't good as I used to rush and not get the grades I expected but gradually in year 2 I picked up my mistakes and achieveing the best grades to my ability.
It makes effort in being prepared for work placement. This is so far from the work we do in lessons it prepares me in what to expect.
The tutors teach really well and cover what is required in assignments or exams. The least liked thing is the lectures are too long and its gets tiring by the end of the day.
They are good and all the relevant resources for my course are avaliable.
The feedback from tutors are really well. They tend to give you feedback as soon as possible and with assignment they give the grades and feedback in time before the next assignment so we don't make the same mistakes.
Overall, the college experience is good. Have received help from tutor from module when i need help. College module have allowed me to further improve my transferable skill.
Transferable skill Opportunity to top up and do placement
What i like most about the course is that they are in small classes as well as focus on developing skills needed for the business life.
Very good support offered by the college. Tutors always read to help and look at work to give feedback.
