The shared bathroom facilities are grim and the accommodation feels like prison. The accommodation comes with a meal plan which sounds great but for the price you pay is disgusting and isn't much option especially as you don't have the opportunity to make your own food.
I am very much enjoying my experience. I love the catering because it gives me a good step into being somewhat independent but not immediately thrown into the deep end.
To be honest, in 5 years time if anyone asked how university was for me, I wouldn't remember much or have much to say. The university lacks massively in communication and organisation. They take a ridiculous amount of time to respond to queries and release grades etc. They offer hardly any help or support to be honest. Social life is ok but the clubs and societies need to be more actively involved. The university clearly only cares for two departments and thats teaching and sports. If you want to go there and study anything else outside of these departments, I really would not bother. I regret coming to this university. It lacks in so many areas including employability skills. I wouldn't waste your money here.
It was completely terrible. For anyone interested in general design I would highly recommend not coming here. I would also recommend in general to attempt to visit your uni on non- open days too if possible.
Very enjoyable experience so far, the course has lots of particle work on it which I enjoy the most. The facilities on offer here are top notch and really help me with my work. The students union is pretty good, there are lots of activities to get involved in all year round.
It has been really good so far. I really enjoy learning new content and applying it to real life. The accommodation is good value because you are well looked after by the cleaners and also the hall reps.
Course & Lecturers For my course (Primary Education), this university is great. It's low entry, but still high quality. It is a known name in education and the support and links with schools are great. I had plenty of preparation and support from the university during placement. My lecturers are all very helpful and they are all keen to ensure that you do your best. As the university is small, the guidance and help is more like it was at school. If you are doing primary education, do be prepared to take the course seriously; there is not skipping lectures like there is in other universities, you will get in trouble for missing lectures! I have had an amazing first year :) Accommodation The halls are a lot cheaper than those in most universities if you go for the cheapest ones. I stayed in Old House this year and it was a single sex corridor of 30 girls.Of course, the halls aren't beautiful, but you're a student! The only downside was that every hall is catered and the refectory food is rubbish :( City Life Everyone complains about the location but my friends and I go out in London (Shoreditch, Camden, Soho) frequently. There are night buses back that stop outside the uni. There are nightclubs in Kingston and eeeveryone goes to McClusky's on a wednesday night. They do a bus2club for £5 from the SU in the middle of campus getting you there and back with entry. It's a pretty standard nightclub. Uni Facilities Brilliant library; the education section is fantastic! Clubs & Societies There is a large choice! Student Union A bit rubbish, but it does the job! Eye Candy Everyone seems to do sports, so everyone seems to take pride in their appearance. Job Prospects For Primary Education; very good! St Mary's is a known name in the industry!
Great self-contained campus and fantastic Lecturers! I loved it...
