Covid19 and the striking has completely disrupted my whole 3 years

Lecturers give no support at all especially during this year with all the striking. Students are having to teach themselves and we are not getting the grades we deserve

The best part of my De Montfort University experience has been the sense of hope, growth and independence it has given me. Moving to a new country, adapting to a different academic culture, and managing everything on my own has pushed me to become more confident and resilient. I’ve also really appreciated the support from my supervisors, knowing that I can ask questions and get guidance has made a big difference. The most challenging aspect has been balancing academic pressure with personal responsibilities. Being away from my family and managing everything alone can sometimes feel overwhelming. There were moments when settling in, handling accomodation issues, and adjusting to the workload all felt like too much at once. But those challenges have also taught me better organisation, patience, and how to reach out when I need help. I am happy and proud to choose my university for my bright future ahead!

The best aspect of my course is the level of academic support and depth of learning it offers. I really appreciate how the modules connect theory with real-world practice, especially through discussions, supervision meetings, and opportunities to shape my own research direction. It has helped me think more critically and given me the confidence to develop my own ideas. The guidance from supervisors and training instructors has also been one of the strongest points as they are approachable, encouraging, and genuinely invested in students’ progress. The most challenging aspect has been managing the independent research workload. While I enjoy the freedom to explore my own topic, it can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when I’m still adjusting to a new academic environment and expectations. There are moments when the pace feels intense, and it requires strong self-discipline and time management. However, even these challenges have helped me become more organised and more confident in handling research responsibilities.

What I love most about my university’s location is how convenient and welcoming it feels. Everything I need, shops, buses, library, and cafés, is close by, so it’s easy to settle into a routine. The area feels safe, and there’s a nice balance between peaceful spaces to study and busy spots where you can relax. Being able to walk almost everywhere has made life much easier and less stressful. What’s not so great is the weather and the occasional noise. Some days it can feel cold, rainy, or gloomy, which makes it harder to stay motivated. At times, the area can get a bit crowded or noisy, especially during peak hours. But overall, these are small things compared to the comfort and accessibility the location offers.
