he University of Birmingham has been a genuinely enriching place to study, with a combination of academic excellence, campus atmosphere, and support services that shaped my experience. One of the best aspects has been the quality of teaching, lecturers are knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and often bring real-world experience into seminars, which makes learning engaging and relevant. The campus itself is another major highlight: the mix of historic buildings and modern facilities, especially spaces like the Library and the new Teaching and Learning Building, make it a motivating place to work. There’s also a strong sense of community, with a huge variety of societies and events that make it easy to meet people and feel involved. That said, there are areas that could be improved. Sometimes communication between departments can be slow or unclear, especially around things like timetables, deadlines, or administrative processes. While the facilities are impressive, certain older buildings can feel overcrowded during peak times, and access to study spaces isn’t always guaranteed during exam season. In addition, support services—although helpful, can be oversubscribed, meaning waiting times for wellbeing appointments can be longer than ideal. Overall, the University of Birmingham is a fantastic place to study, offering strong academics and a vibrant student life. With improvements in communication and resource availability, the student experience could be even better.

Course hours are good but annoying as I have random modules from each course so my timetable has so many clashes- have to change myy modules always. Tutor hours mine are good but other tutors- not as good

Best- value of money Worst- no cleaning, no maintenance, door handle fell off once was fixed a whole week later, mould in shower took a full week, no hot water, small kitchen, room small, some had silverfish- did nothing , so far from campus, wifi kept on cutting out

Wellbeing team is the worst. Best is the chemistry lecturers.

Worst part is organisation within LANS department - but much better than it was in the first year. Best is variety and opportunity to do year abroad.

Best - close to campus with other students. Worst - antisocial kitchen design.
