technicians are really helpful and give you tonnes of advice on using professional equipment. facilities are amazing and professional quality. lecturers are kind and enthusiastic. there is a great community since it is a small place, and you get to know everyone and make friends quickly. student union needs work. since it is a small uni there are not enough volunteers to help run the s.u. and everyone is so hard working that nobody has enough time.

It's right near the town with easy and cheap travel by train and bus. The cafe is a great place to hang out and the library always open. There's lots of opportunity to use facilities, with workshops regularly to show you how to use them. Lots of visiting professionals and a focus in 2nd year on the transition from education to careers in your chosen subject. They could improve the communication between course lecturers, a lot of the time you get lots of different answers to the same question especially with scheduling of classes etc. There should be more notice to some elements of the course, such as timetabling, trips and tasks that are often given with extremely little time. My experience with the student welfare and academic support team was less than desirable, anything that would take you away from studies for more than a week is not condoned during term time, with students not coming in for a month at a time regularly anyway.

Since Covid is gone everything is now in person, lessons 4 days a week. Some lecturers are easier to get a reply from than others. The course has 60 people split into 2 groups with 2 groups within those so it's likely you won't know 3/4 of the people on your course. Lots of opportunity to book one to one tutorials with lecturers.
