I chose MDX due to its excellent reputation for education courses and during my time here it has proven to be the best decision. Through ongoing module progression and assignments that directly relate to our future careers, we continually enhance our subject knowledge to stay current with the realities of teaching in a UK primary school. During our school placements, we apply this knowledge in practice, receiving support from the class teacher and our mentor as we plan, deliver, and review lessons across the entire curriculum. Whilst the location may seem far away form central London compared to other universities, the underground is only a short walk away and takes you straight into the city.

All modules are seminars, meaning that we are expected to participate in disucssions and activities as if we were either students in a Primary setting or already qualified teachers. This includes participating in music, art, PE and all the 'classroom' subjects such as mathematics, English and science. Studying a vocational subject, work placement is a huge part of the course. With a school placement every school year, we get exposed to all years of primary school, with the help of the class teacher and mentor. In the first year, there is a newly added 'experience week' where we get one week of observing a primary class to really get a feel for what we have ahead of us. Additionally, there is a vouluntary placement at the end of second year in a Special Educational Needs School.
