Best year of my life so far. The great thing about LCM is the sheer number of people who are similar but different. You can always have a jam with someone or work together in lectures, it gives a well-rounded approach to your studies.

The facilities are really good along with the décor of the building which makes is feel like a real professional working environment. I have seen other universities which look run-down and remind me of old high school buildings so it’s great in LCM. I would like to have a better stocked facilities in terms of guitar amps and instruments. Overall, pretty good.

The SU are generally doing a good job, the president is really on-it this year. Because it is a small place, there is less to do. The peak of their presence comes around during Freshers week but then not much else throughout the rest of the year. They are doing a good job, especially when they have their work cut out in a place like this.

In Leeds you can just go out for a drink virtually anywhere as there are so many places out there. Even after being here for a year, there are still so many places I have not visited as there is so much choice. It’s not just clubbing that Leeds has, there are so many more places you can just go and chill

I have joined the Christian Society where it’s a great place to meet new people, particularly on other courses. Because doing music constantly can become quite claustrophobic, it’s great to have that option there. I am also hoping to start up a cycling society.

My favourite module is my one-to-one individual guitar lesson. It’s the most productive use of my time and I get the most out of it, it has changed my playing more than any other class. I do wish there were more core ensembles to take part in. At the moment, there are currently two, and as a rhythm guitarist there are far too many people for the places that are available.

In terms of job prospects, you get out what you put in, there’s only so much a college can do. I feel relatively optimistic but at the end of the day, there is no guaranteed job at the end of your degree.

The value of the student accommodation is very poor, it is massively overpriced. I recommend you move out as soon as possible after 1st year. The only upside is that it is very close to the city centre.

I began at LCoM on the classical course with jazz minor; the standard of education wasn't fantastic on the classical side of things, and the standard of students wasn't what I expected so I switched full time to the jazz course. The Jazz course has been fantastic and I've made some great connections in the industry. I would say that LCoM is a great place to learn if you want to be a regularly gigging and teaching musician.

There needs to be more band and practice rooms.

The facilities for students to get help are excellent, however sometimes time tabling can take a while and you don't get your timetables until the last minute which is a nightmare for busy people.

It's diffuclt to have a good Union with such a small amount of students. A lot of interested are not covered.

Leeds is great.

Don't go for student accommodation- get a private flat on the docks- not as expensive and much nicer.
