Established as a university in the 1990s, Coventry University has more than 27,000 students and is one of two universities in Coventry.
Four academic faculties make up the university, with each faculty divided into different schools. These are:
There are three campuses, including one in the city centre where the majority of university operations take place. There are also a further two campuses outside of Coventry, in Scarborough and London. The Coventry city centre campus has undergone a £160m regeneration and expansion project.
The university received the title of Top New University in the Complete University Guide 2018. This performance in the league tables is reflected in the positive reviews from our student reviewers: from social life to lecturers, facilities to the city, our students seem to be very happy with Coventry.
Students say:
“It has surpassed my expectations. Superbly relevant, intellectually rigorous course content; very good facilities on uni; friendly staff, students and city mates; safe neighbourhood; and convenient location of stores. What more could one ask for?”
“It's been great so far. I've met some great people, and the university experience has given me the opportunity to branch out and get out of my comfort zone. I've grown a lot.”
“Very good. I'm a mature student and have enjoyed my time here a lot. I've got involved at many levels, in societies and as course rep. I get along with students and staff alike.”
Coventry University offers a range of undergraduate courses across the following academic areas:
Courses in Occupational Therapy and Hospitality and Tourism are particularly highly regarded, ranking 4th and 6th respectively in the Complete University Guide 2018. Food Science, Sports Science and Physiotherapy also rank in the top ten.
Our student reviewers were particularly impressed by the way lecturers made the courses relate to the real world, and also how personable and easy to approach they can be.
Students say:
“That the course pages on moodle are updated regularly by the lecturers to provide important and useful information on the course material to help with upcoming quizzes, exams and coursework. The lecturers are easily approachable and can be found using their theta sessions or email to ask them about any queries regarding the course or material that has been confusing.”
“The material is easily accessible. Furthermore, a number of lecturers brought numerous experts (in my case Judges, solicitors and law academics) whom gave us a greater insight in many areas related to our course.”
“The lecturers know what they are doing and relate classwork to real life industry experience.”
