The psychology element of our BSc Hons Sociology and Psychology degree will give you an understanding of the brain, behaviour and experience. The course includes studies of perception, memory and emotion and the development of language. You will explore the way society works through sociological themes such as social justice, gender, crime and deviance, and ethnicity.The two sides of the course are brought together with an exploration of the socio-psychological processes that shape our relationships with each other and society.Our sociology and psychology graduates enter careers in areas such as youth and community work, welfare provision, charitable organisations and local and national government.
What you should know about this course- The opportunity to study modules covering a range of issues from social inequalities, global relations and popular culture to gender, identity and migration- A broad foundation in sociological thinking and theory is offered while supporting you to pursue your own ideas and interests through focused research- The psychology component of the programme seeks to understand mind and behaviour through experimentation, observation and measurement- Explore the study of perception, memory and emotion, and the causes of abnormal behaviour- You get to study the socio-psychological processes that shape our relationships with ourselves, each other and society.
