Critically explore politics and some of the most pressing issues facing us today. Youll have the opportunity to enhance your studies with fantastic placements.
As part of your course, youll:
Examine politics as a human activity with a local, national and global outlook
Study the ideas, ideologies, policies and institutions that form the foundations of modern politics
Understand complex policy issues and advocate solutions to problems
Evaluate the nature and distribution of power systems, processes and institutions of governance
Analyse different interpretations of political events and issues, synthesising relevant information, exercising critical judgement and constructing reasoned arguments
Analyse pressing issues facing us today, such as climate change, human rights, migration and the crisis of capitalism
Explore how the role of the state, international power relations, ethics, and political movements and ideologies such as Marxism have profound implications for the organisation of our society
Undertake a volunteering placement giving you work experience in the field
Blend critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
Teaching & Learning
Independent study is a crucial part of learning at university and you will be required to undertake many hours of self-directed research and reading, and preparation and writing of assessments. Your course is delivered through a number of modules, which will help you to plan your time and establish a study routine. Outside of your lectures, workshops and tutorials, a range of support is available to assist with your independent study. Our subject-specific librarians will be on hand to direct you to the specialist learning and study-skill resources. Youll also be assigned an academic advisor to give you tailored feedback and support.
