PhD Creative Writing

Aberystwyth University

I'm an international student from FRance and I really like Aberystwyth, it's a small town near the sea, we can hike and enjoy the landscapes, the student support is really important here and this is very cool

Gorgeous campus, small enough to be an easy adjustment from living in a small town but big enough to feel exciting. All my lecturers are not only knowledgeable but passionate in their subject area.

The Creative Writing MA needs to be a year and a half to allow staff and students to focus on one thing at a time and complete their best work. Many students across departments are crying out for more time and ability to focus on one assignment at a time. Take the strengths of block teaching a step further to make courses more neurodivergent friendly!! We demand and deserve better! Students want and need a better work-life balance.

I think it has a great awareness and care for its students with their physical and mental well-being being well taken care of. There is a large amount of support which is wonderful to witness and receive. The weakest aspect of the university might be the lack of activities surrounding it - I’ve lived in much busier places so despite the tranquility of the area it can feel somewhat isolating at times. That being said the classes are often engaging and the lecturers seem interested in students as academics rather than simply students.

A very friendly and easy place to study effectively. I'm very muçh looking forward to studying more in person this year as it was my favourite part of the first year.
