Encouraged to become a self-reflective practitioner, you will explore your feelings, attitudes and personal relational issues in order to evaluate and further refine your abilities. You will enhance your understanding of social and cultural differences and values while analysing ethical dilemmas found in the profession. This will give you the ability to work effectively and sensitively with clients from a variety of backgrounds. Even if you have limited experience in interpersonal and counselling practice, this course will provide you with the fundamentals needed to enter this rewarding field. You'll develop skills that will help you analyse dilemmas and work effectively and sensitively with ethical issues such as social and cultural differences including diverse values, beliefs and attitudes of clients.
Applicants should normally have at least a second class honours degree.Applicants who do not have previous study in a related area may benefit from studying a short course in counselling skills before joining the course.
