Providing care for children, young people, and their families is a rewarding career choice. If you’re keen to provide committed, compassionate and professional care to children and young people and their families, this Nursing (Child) BSc(Hons) degree could help you pursue your future career. On this child nursing course, which is regulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), you’ll develop key clinical skills in our fully equipped simulated children’s ward using our patient simulators. You’ll also hear first-hand experiences and viewpoints from service users and carers, who are part of our Public Partnership Group. You’ll be taught by experienced practitioners and tutors, and you’ll learn in an innovative environment, which is designed to give you the very best opportunities for in-classroom and hands-on learning.
Why Study Nursing (Child) BSc(Hons) at University of Huddersfield?Your time on the course will be divided between learning theory and applying your knowledge in the clinical environment, with clinical placements providing opportunities for you to put what you’ve learned into practice in a variety of settings. These include children's wards, children’s hospitals, accident and emergency departments, and neonatal intensive care. Opportunities are also available to work with specialist nurses in a range of community settings, including children’s hospices, health centres and mainstream and specialist schools. You'll be taught by a team who really understand what it is like to be a children's nurse and are able to demonstrate the latest techniques and procedures whilst supporting you as you put these skills and qualities into practice. In 2024, the University’s new Daphne Steele Building will open on the site of the National Health Innovation campus, too. This will allow child nursing students to benefit from specialist clinical teaching facilities and world-leading research facilities. Following successful completion of this Nursing (Child) degree course, you can register with the NMC and work as a Registered Nurse for Children, marking the start of a potentially fruitful career ahead.
