Explore the complex world of mental health and addiction related issues on this course. You'll learn to support, treat and improve the lives of service users. As part of this course, you'll: Gain a robust understanding of the social, psychological and medical contexts of addiction and mental health practice Develop your ability to recommend a combination of social and therapeutic evidence-based practices when working with people experiencing mental distress and addiction-related issues Adopt a curious and critical outlook towards mental health and addiction policy and practice Look beyond just substance use, exploring other addictive behaviours rooted in gambling, gaming and pornography Evaluate new and evolving practices, interventions and treatments within mental health and addiction services Build a research-informed, global outlook towards mental health and addiction practice, reflecting on this global context by connecting macro-critical theory to micro-practice Consider the impact of globalisation on people with complex mental health and addiction needs.
Applicants should either have at least a second class honours degree or have equivalent health and social care practitioner experience or relevant professional vocational training.
