Course description
The MSc Management degree provides a fast-track into business for those with no previous experience and covers all key elements of management - innovation, entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, organisational change and human resources.
Modules such as Entrepreneurship and Innovation will develop your ability to create and successfully grow an organisation, while courses on Accounting and Human Resource Management will equip you with a range of knowledge and skills in managing the financial side of the business and motivating employees. You will master the principles of Marketing in order to research your market and promote your business.
You will learn to identify opportunities and risks in the global business environment in the module Trends in Global Business and Management . Building on Alliance Manchester Business School's leading position in the field, the module Sustainability and Social Responsibility will show how your business can improve the environment and benefit society as whole.
The Business Research Project provides a unique opportunity to demonstrate your talent and showcase your new skills through a specific case study of a company or organisational issue. Taking place in the final semester, it allows you to engage with the issues that you will experience in the workplace. Throughout the programme, field trips to major companies and external speakers provide opportunities to learn best-practice from managers and senior leaders.
Coursework and assessment
Assessment across the course units varies, and includes a combination of examinations, course work, report and group project assessment and presentations.
During the third semester students undertake a business project as part of their final assessment.
Career opportunities
The course is aimed at graduates who are interested in pursuing a career in management, but may never have studied management previously. Typically graduates are able to work in a variety of management roles across private, public and not-for-profit sectors.
