Requirements for accreditation This course is designed to satisfy the requirements for accreditation as a Chartered Engineer . As such, it will help you develop your career as a leader in design, construction and management operations within civil engineering. As part of this course, you’ll: Develop your technical ability, understanding of engineering principles, commercial flair and environmental awareness Study an advanced course that will equip you with the technical and practical skills to contribute effectively in a wide range of industry settings Be taught by staff with professional experience in a broad range of subjects including transportation, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering and water engineering Investigate contemporary research and engineering solutions designed to meet global challenges, such as the climate change emergency Complete advanced laboratory studies and use industry standard IT design software Accreditation This course is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) comprising of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE), the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) and the Permanent Way Institution (PWI) on behalf of the Engineering Council as meeting the academic requirement for further learning for registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng). As such, it will help you develop your career as a leader in design, construction and management operations within civil engineering. To hold accredited qualifications for CEng registration, candidates must also hold a Bachelor (Hons) degree that has been accredited as partially meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng).
Applicants should either have at least a second class honours degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering, a second class honours degree in a non-cognate subject supported by evidence of an aptitude for the subject applied for, or have equivalent experience or training from within the civil engineering environment. All applications should be supported by a reference, either academic or professional.
