MA Creative Writing (Online)

I’m currently enrolled in an online MA program in Creative Writing, and the experience has been fantastic so far. The facilities are incredibly accessible, and the student support team is always ready to help if I encounter any issues. The tutors and unit leaders are incredibly positive and approachable, eager to review our work and provide valuable feedback. What stands out most is the engagement within the course. Everyone is deeply involved with the material, and we’ve created a group chat where we discuss readings, share ideas, and support one another. It’s a vibrant, collaborative environment that makes learning so enjoyable. The workload is significant—there are many books to read and plenty of studying to do—but the resources being online and easily accessible make it convenient to study anytime and anywhere. The structure of the course is another strength. Each week follows the same routine: materials are released on Friday, and we have a Teams call on Thursday to discuss them with the unit leader. This consistency is really helpful for staying organized. The course leader is consistently finding ways to engage with us and provide support. The attention to students is outstanding, and feedback is a particular highlight. Charlotte, in particular, provides incredibly detailed and constructive feedback, offering practical advice that pushes us to improve and achieve more. Overall, this program combines excellent support, engaging content, and a flexible structure that makes it a joy to be a part of.

A nice small campus with a modern feel, very easy to get around with lots of good stores and places to get a quick snack. On campus stores are quite pricey but the nearby premier is fab for a quick sweet before or after lectures and workshops.

The University is welcoming, and small enough to not feel overwhelming, which was what first attracted me to it. I wouldn't say I've had very bad experiences, only small annoyances, which came mostly from poor organisation and communication, but those haven't hindered all my good experiences (both planned by the uni or things done with friends). I love the course and all the freedom I have, and despite all the rain, I do love Bournemouth.

The campus is very creative both in design and atmosphere, and it’s a great place to be an arts student and really explore your creativity. There is art everywhere as you’re walking around which makes you feel part of a creative community. The library is a great place to study, and it’s a small uni so it’s easier to learn your way around campus. There are also other facilities like 3D printers and laser cutters in the innovation studio. It’s really easy to reach out to people on other courses to collaborate on a project. The student union runs welcome events in fresher’s week and throughout the term, although sometimes these could be better organised as it makes the job more difficult for student ambassadors.

The campus is beautiful. It really gives the feel of an Arts university, with well considered architecture and easy to understand layout. The student base is varied for the same reason-an arts uni attracts all sorts, which is both a positive and a negative. I think it leans into the positive, as it means plenty of voices can be heard. I have already made great friends so far. The campus itself is a little far from the city centre, but it's an easy bus ride away.
