As part of this course, you’ll:- Pursue and acquire a comprehensive knowledge and dynamic understanding of the law- Develop academic, practical, digital and employability skills as you participate in learning activities and authentic assessment tasks at each stage of your learning- Learn to analyse, critique and challenge contemporary issues in law- Begin to provide strategic solutions to legal problems and recognise conflicts and tensions- Tailor your degree to your career aspirations with a choice of option modules- Be supported to become an independent learner and critical thinker- Become increasingly knowledgeable and reflective about your own academic development and the legal research environment

Law in Practice guest lectures

We regularly welcome guest speakers in prominent legal positions to share their experience of the profession. Previous speakers include human rights campaigner Baroness Shami Chakrabarti, and Leader of the Labour Party, Sir Keir Starmer. You’ll be able to access their lectures digitally if you are unable to attend on-campus.


Mooting

You’ll have the opportunity to develop your advocacy skills through our active mooting programme. You could also enter regional and national competitions to hone your skill in this area.


The Law Clinic

Our Law Clinic brings local law firms even closer to our student community and provides a confidential environment for members of the public to seek free legal advice. If you choose to get involved, you'll develop key transferable skills. You’ll gain invaluable first-hand experience of legal practice which will enhance your CV.


Law Trove

Leeds Law School subscribes to Law Trove, an online service offered by Oxford University Press. This means you’ll have free access to all Oxford University Press Law textbooks. You’ll be able to read texts online or download chapters in PDF format to read offline or print as you wish.


The Law Society

We have an active Student Law Society which organises social, as well as networking and career-focused events.
