International Summer School - Printmaking and Photography

Birmingham City University

The facilities of the university are really professional and high quality and the staff of my course and the university are always really friendly and helpful.

Absolutely love studying at BCU, the facilities for my course are amazing and so accommodating. staff and the student support are so helpful from personal experience, especially helpful when i started and was so nervous, my lecturers secretly put me in multiple groups to help expand my social circle when i struggled to do so, the campus is so cool, especially parkside i am in, they have students work on show and constantly rotate it around so you get too see all years work, some being interactive. Overall this is the uni for me and i really enjoy studying here

The student union needs more presence in BCU's other campuses. The courses tend to be well structured, however, and offer a lot of opportunities to enter the industry.

The learning environment here is incredibly supportive and engaging. Teachers consistently go above and beyond to make sure every student feels confident, offering help not just during lessons but also whenever we need clarification or extra guidance. Classes are well-structured, detailed, and carefully designed to make sure we genuinely understand each topic rather than just memorize it. The student community is also a major strength. Everyone is friendly, welcoming, and willing to help one another, which creates a positive atmosphere where collaboration comes naturally. Being surrounded by classmates who share notes, explain concepts, and encourage each other makes studying far more enjoyable. On top of that, the campus’s central location means there’s always something exciting to do nearby—cafés, shops, and entertainment spots are all within easy reach, adding to the overall experience and making it a great place to study and spend time.

The place is amazing to study at, it’s in a great location with shops a 10 minute walk away. I haven’t fully accessed the support centre although it is easy to find, with signs and email addresses all throughout campus if you need to access it. The SU bar is great with events on each week like pub quiz on Thursdays and Karaoke night on Fridays and many more throughout the week. The only disappointing part about the SU bar is that it is not open on weekends, I think it should be open as students have easy access to a bar where they can feel safe to walk to and from home. I do also like how there is security around campus and within the accommodation reception.
