Interior Architecture and Design - BA (Hons)

University of Hertfordshire

The best part of my experience has been the strong studio culture and the collaborative environment. Working closely with students from different backgrounds has helped me grow both creatively and technically. The campus is well-equipped, and the tutors are approachable and supportive, especially during design discussions and reviews. I also appreciate the opportunities to explore digital tools, model-making, and real-world case studies. The campus WiFi often drops or becomes slow, particularly in studio spaces. Since our course relies heavily on digital tools, stable internet would really improve productivity.

Studying architecture at the University of Hertfordshire was an incredibly rewarding experience. From the moment I joined the program, I was impressed by the level of support provided by the faculty. The lecturers and tutors were not only knowledgeable but also genuinely invested in my growth, offering guidance that helped shape my design thinking and technical skills. Beyond the academic support, the university’s state-of-the-art facilities played a significant role in enhancing my learning experience. Access to modern studios, digital fabrication tools, and well-equipped workshops allowed me to experiment, refine my work, and bring my architectural ideas to life. The combination of a strong academic foundation, hands-on experience, and a supportive learning environment makes the University of Hertfordshire an excellent choice for aspiring architects. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to develop their creativity and technical expertise in architecture.

The architecture course at the University of Hertfordshire is intellectually rich and creatively demanding. With excellent facilities, inspiring tutors, and a strong studio culture, it blends conceptual thinking with practical skills. The programme fosters deep architectural awareness and prepares students for both professional practice and thoughtful design leadership.

Both campuses are very nice, within them I have always felt safe. Accomodation in both campuses are nice, shared living facilities are dependent on the people you share with so it’s a hit and miss but if you chose who are living with then that minismes the chances of a bad experience. Teaching and learning quality is dependent per course, I’m studying architecture and I have always felt that the way my course is taught and the learning experience could be improved but I know people in other course have much better experiences. The ne of my favourite things about the student life are the free sports classes and activities. They’re so good and they’re all free which meant I didn’t even need a gym membership my whole time but I have stayed active at least once a week at no cost! One of the biggest downsides of the university is the location. Getting from A to B will mean you are crossing at least 3 main roads or going through underpasses and the shuttle bus is sometimes unreliable. The town is not the most walkable and all relevant places are the on average 15 mins away. There are small convenience shops on campus which’s re slightly more expensive. Both college lane and dehav libraries being 24h is pretty much the best things ever. The university tries their best to provide activities and events for student which are always appreciated!

The best aspect of this university, I think, is the campus. The student life here is vibrant and safe, and I absolutely love the location. I think what could have improved it is financial support, which I haven't seen here.
