The training also provides an entry into PhD studies. Previous students have undertaken projects in the following areas:antibiotic resistance and hospital-acquired infectionsarthropod vector biology and vectorborne diseasesepidemiology and mathematical modelling of animal and human infectionsmolecular diagnosis and point-of-care detection of infectious diseasesthe immunology of bacterial and parasitic infections (including major tropical diseases such as malaria, trypanosomiasis and schistosomiasis)the immunology of ruminant infections (for example Johne's Disease)the pathogenesis of viral diseases (animal and human, including herpes and HIV)
