Overview

BA (Hons) Games Design and Development is a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary programme designed to prepare students for a career in the games design industry. With a ''play first'' philosophy, the course covers both theoretical and practical aspects of game design and development, providing students with a deep understanding of the industry’s production methodologies and business practices. The curriculum emphasises the development of essential skills in storytelling, world-building, game mechanics, design principles, and technical design, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for various roles within the games industry.

This course is offered through our partnership with BIMM University. UK students on this course may be eligible for the maximum Tuition Fee Loan amount, which covers the full tuition fee.

Why Take the Course?

  • ''Play First'' Philosophy: The course encourages a hands-on, experimental approach to game design, allowing you to learn by doing. This mindset fosters creativity, resilience, and an iterative approach to problem-solving.
  • Industry-Relevant Skills: The curriculum aligns with current industry standards, covering essential areas such as storytelling, game mechanics, technical design, and production methodologies. Graduates will be well-prepared to enter the workforce with a robust skill set.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: By working alongside students from related fields, such as Games Technology and Games Art, you’ll gain a holistic understanding of game development and how different roles collaborate within the industry.
  • Inclusivity and Diversity: The course is delivered using the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework, ensuring that all students, regardless of background or learning style, can succeed. The program actively seeks to attract underrepresented groups, promoting a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
